The STAR reports Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC)
deputy commissioner (operations) Datuk Mohd Shukri Abdul
has expressed his disappointment over the commission's failure
to win some high-profile corruption cases recently.
"This gives the public a negative perception of our agency, as
though we are not taking matters seriously,"
I dunno, it's not taking matters seriously, or bias or selective prosecution?
One case in point, former MB Selangor's mansion, what's the status of
investigation now by MACC? I think the rakyat have the right to know why
MACC taking soooooo long to complete its investigation on this particular case.
Of the average 10,000 cases reported every year, he said only half
could be probed and eventually, only about 200 cases could be
brought to court after getting permission to prosecute.
Wah fantastic record huh, out of 10000 cases reported, 5000 cases were
thrown out for reasons only known to MACC. So 5000 cases would be
investigated where only 200 cases would face the courts!
And hear this in order to prosecute these 200, MACC also must get
permission first, but from whom? DAMMIT! I thought MACC is supposed
to be an independent body!
A mere 20% out of 10000 cases reported be charged but only 68.1% out 200
cases were convicted!
In other words, only 136.2 cases were convicted out of the 10000 cases
reported! Where does MACC stand in Jala's KPI or whatever?
Singapore and Hong Kong have a 90% conviction rate while
Indonesia and China have almost a 100% rate. In those countries,
the evidence adduced in court is strong enough and guarantees
conviction,"
Why, why these countries can have HIGH % of conviction rate? Why can't
we? It beats me. Seriously, we gotta eat some humble pie and go for a study
tour to these countries.
But of course really study tours la, and not go to some Disneyland's and
coming back empty- handed or issit empty headed? LOL
